Description: Dantrolen sodium salt is a Hydantoin derivative that inhibits calcium secretion without modulating reuptake. Since the calcium channels are involved in the stimulus conduction, uncontrolled contractions of the skeletal muscles can be stopped. It can therefore be used in spastic syndromes with morbidly increased muscle tension, malignant hyperthermia (genetic calcium regulation errors, usually triggered by anesthetic drugs) and malignant neuroleptic syndrome (acutely life-threatening Side effect of neuroleptics).
