Description: Cinacalcet hydrochloride is a calcimimetic agent, meaning that it mimics the action of calcium. It is used to treat elevated calcium levels in the blood in the following disorders: secondary hyperparathyroidism (HPT) in patients with chronic kidney disease on dialysis; hypercalcemia in patients with parathyroid carcinoma; and severe hypercalcemia in patients with primary hyperparathyroidism who are unable to undergo parathyroidectomy.
